Kurzbiografie

Dr. Abdullah Fahimi ist Research Fellow im Zentrum für Klima und Außenpolitik der DGAP, wo er an Themen im Zusammenhang mit Klima, Frieden und Sicherheit sowie Klimamigration arbeitet, mit einem geografischen Schwerpunkt auf dem globalen Süden, insbesondere fragilen und konfliktbetroffenen Ländern in Asien und Afrika. Fahimis Arbeit liefert Impulse für akademische und politische Diskussionen zu klimabedingter Migration, Environmental Peacebuilding, internationaler Zusammenarbeit zur Minderung und Anpassung an die Folgen des Klimawandels, klimabedingte Sicherheitsrisiken und der Rolle internationaler Organisationen. 

Dr. Fahimi war zuvor im akademischen Bereich als Dozent sowie in staatlichen und nichtstaatlichen Organisationen in Afghanistan tätig. Er ist Mitglied der Community of Practice on Environment, Climate, Conflict, and Peace (ECCP) und des Clusters Transformation der Heinrich-Böll-Stiftung.

Fahimi promovierte im Fach Politikwissenschaft an der Leuphana Universität Lüneburg zum Thema „Internationale Organisationen und Energiewende in Afghanistan“. In Lüneburg erwarb er ebenso einen Master in Staatswissenschaften – Politikwissenschaft, Volkswirtschaftslehre und öffentliches Recht. Zuvor absolvierte er ein Bachelor-Studium an der Goa University in Indien.
