Geopolitical crises have disrupted energy supply chains, challenging the traditional fossil-based energy security model. Reliance on fossil fuels, which are dominated by oligopolistic suppliers, drives importers to invest in energy efficiency and renewables for self-sufficiency. While renewables enhance domestic energy security, the green transition requires significant financial investments and poses new risks, such as hybrid threats to infrastructure. This panel discussion will explore the evolution of energy security strategies to align decarbonization with resilience and sovereignty.
The discussion will take place on the sidelines of the 2025 Berlin Energy Transition Dialogue (BETD). As an official side event organized by the Energy Partner Program, it will bring together high-level speakers from civil society, government, and the security sector. It will be held in English. Coffee and light snacks will be provided at registration and lunch will be provided at noon.
Since 2015, the BETD has been organized annually by the Federal Foreign Office and has become one of the world’s most important forums on the global energy transition. Here, key decision-makers of the energy transition engage in dialogue and bilateral meetings to share ideas and experiences, discuss and solve urgent challenges, and forge energy partnerships in pursuit of an environmentally sound, secure, and affordable global energy transition.
