Security

Since Russia’s large-scale invasion of Ukraine in February 2022, our experts in the topic area “security” have been primarily concerned with the realignment of Germany’s and Europe’s defense policy – the keyword for the former being Zeitenwende or “sea change.” This includes examining not only shifts in transatlantic relations but also the epochal change that has emerged there since Trump 2.0 related to the questioning of transatlantic security guarantees. Specifically, their work focuses on the military capabilities of Germany’s Federal Armed Forces and NATO, technological innovation and cooperation, and integrated security.

Research in this topic area is carried out by various teams at DGAP. You can find more information about our research centers here: https://dgap.org/en/research-institute
