Eurasia is rapidly gaining importance in global politics after having been ignored in the geopolitical debate for decades. The opening of China and its economic and geopolitical rise, coupled with infrastructure projects such as Beijing’s „One Belt, One Road“-initiative, has also put the spotlight onto this vast region. With three major powers, Russia, China, and the EU, at its borders, the region lies at the heart of a new world order that will also impact on the US. As the current super power, Washington has conceived itself as a Western power, yet strongly pivoted towards Asia in recent years.

At this event, we will discuss the future dynamic of Eurasia and its geopolitical impact with Bruno Maçães, who argues that the emerging global order is Eurasian and requires a super-continental approach. We will also launch his book The Dawn of Eurasia: On the Trail of the New World Order, recently published by the Penguin Random House.
