The Robert Bosch Center was a DGAP program that offered applied and independent research, expert seminars, and policy-oriented publications on Russia, Central and Eastern Europe, and Central Asia from January 2017 to February 2021. It served as an important platform for debate about the target region for those working in the areas of policy, business, academia, and civil society.

Germany and the Visegrad Countries (V4) Ten Years after the EU Enlargement

Achievements and Current Challenges

Timed to coincide with the first decade of EU membership for Poland, Slovakia, the Czech Republic, and Hungary, the project “European Perspectives: Integration Achievements and Challenges of the Visegrad States after Ten Years in the EU” came to a close with a conference of experts from Warsaw, Bratislava, Prague, Budapest, and Germany. Five policy papers were published as part of the program. They provide an overview of 20 years of Visegrad cooperation in each of the V4 countries and Germany. An Event report.

10 Jahre EU-Osterweiterung

Wo stehen Polen, Tschechien, Slowakei und Ungarn?

Die Länder der sogenannten Visegrad-Gruppe (Polen, Tschechien, Slowakei und Ungarn) stehen im Fokus des internationalen DGAP-Forschungsprojekts „Central European Perspectives. Integration Achievements and Challenges of the V4 States after Ten Years in the EU“. Am 20. Mai wurden in Budapest die ersten vier Publikationen zum Auftakt einer Konferenzreihe vorgestellt.

“Europe—Yes!, but…”: European Union is more united than often asserted

For several years Europe has been muddling through the crisis. There are many "headaches" for the EU and the number is growing. The outlook for the European elections forecasts the rise of far-right parties. The possible British vote to leave the EU raises new questions: what if the EU shrinks for the first time in its history? At the joint event hostedby the DGAP and the Robert Bosch Stiftung, the heads of European think tanks discussed consensus and dissent regarding the EU.
