Opposing narratives about the constitution of the geopolitical order cause a communication and security dilemma between Russia and the West, international foreign-policy experts said during a public panel discussion in Berlin. The discussion was the last of a series of meetings of the „Strategy Group Russia/Eastern Partnership“, hosted by the DGAP’s Robert Bosch Center for Central and Eastern Europe, Russia, and Central Asia. The evening’s key question was what a short- and long-term modus vivendi toward Russia could look like.

The Western Balkans have reached a critical point on their path to EU membership, with serious democratic backsliding in some countries and people’s support for the European Union declining. At the same time, the EU is busy with its own internal problems. With the aim of raising awareness for the current developments in their region and contributing new impulses for the EU enlargement policy, think tank representatives from the Western Balkans presented their research findings in Brussels.

Das Jahr 2018 steht im Gedenken an das Ende des Ersten Weltkrieges vor 100 Jahren.
