More than two years after the beginning of the Arab spring, the Middle East is still far from being stable. The situation in countries such as Libya and Egypt is confusing at best. In the case of Syria, the civil war has the potential to ignite a full scale regional war with surrounding neighbors. In this situation, the U.S. is caught in several dilemmas, having to cooperate with longtime adversaries such as Iran and Russia to regain some kind of influence and partial stability. What are the prospects for Obama’s Middle East Strategy in this context?
