Sascha E. Ostanina is a political and security risk analyst with a research focus on Russia and the Eastern Partnership countries. Prior to joining the Jacques Delors Centre, Sascha worked as an external analyst with the international consulting company S&P Global and as a security consultant with the International Atomic Energy Agency. She also worked as a political and economic TV journalist for over a decade before switching to the field of international security. Ms. Ostanina holds a Master’s degree in International Affairs from the Hertie School and a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism from the Magnitogorsk State Technical University.

In 2022, the EU launched a first military assistance mission to train foreign soldiers on the territory of EU member states. The two-year EU Training Mission in support of Ukraine, EUMAM, envisions training 30,000 Ukrainian soldiers in two host countries, Germany and Poland, with support from 24 other EU member states.
