This Women@DGAP event, which is organized in cooperation with the Polish Embassy in Berlin, will examine the role of women in addressing current challenges related to foreign and security policy and traditionalist agendas. The active political engagement of female voters in elections and their high turnout have proven to be crucial for maintaining the resilience of democracies. In countries where conservative views dominate, including many in Europe, the involvement of women can challenge norms and advance gender equality. Together with our panel, we will explore how female activism in politics and society can ensure that diverse perspectives can be heard, and balanced decisions can be made.

Welcome:
Pawel Gronow, Counsellor, Embassy of the Republic of Poland in the Federal Republic of Germany

Introductory Remarks:
Geraldine Schroeder, Member of the Board of DGAP

Keynote:
H.E. Katarzyna Kotula, Minister for Equality of the Republic of Poland (online)

Speakers:
A Representative from the Female Diplomats Network of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Poland
Katja Muñoz, Research Fellow in the Center for Geopolitics, Geoeconomics, and Technology at DGAP

After our discussion, we invite you to network and enjoy an interactive exhibition of photos and costumes of women from the Hanseatic region.

This event is part of the “Women@DGAP” series, created by and for female members and employees of DGAP. Through these events, we aim to introduce women to each other, create space for new initiatives, and build a network of women active in foreign and security policy within DGAP and beyond.

This event is by invitation only. It will be held in English and under the Chatham House Rule.
