DGAP’s Research Institute regularly brings together experts and high-level guests to discuss the latest developments in foreign affairs. On March 6, we will discuss Friday’s clash in the Oval Office between President Zelensky, President Trump, and Vice-President Vance and its security implications for Europe. While the CDU/CSU and SPD are busy negotiating the next German government, other Europeans are devising plans for security guarantees in Ukraine. Given Trump’s refusal to support such guarantees, we will explore how Europe can move its plans forward and, more broadly, how it can react to eroding transatlantic security. Fittingly, we will also consider the Special European Council at which EU leaders will gather in Brussels on March 6.
