Goals, Challenges, and International Cooperation

The journey to Mars is the next big step for space exploration. We would like to discuss NASA's vision for Mars exploration, including the goal of establishing a human presence there by the 2030s. In this regard, we would like to address the relevant political, scientific, and technological questions. What is the scientific aim of such a mission? What is its value for future missions? What are the next steps for NASA to take, and what thresholds will be crossed? How important is international cooperation to realizing the mission to Mars? What does NASA expect from its European partners and how else can they contribute? What role could Russia and China play?
The event is organized by the Future Forum Berlin as part of its research focus on aerospace policy. The discussion will be held in English and moderated by Dr. Sylke Tempel, Editor in Chief, Internationale Politik / Berlin Policy Journal, DGAP.
