Dr Thomas Enders has been President of the German Council on Foreign Relations since June 2019.
Dr Thomas Enders began his professional career at the DGAP after studying economics, politics and history in Bonn and Los Angeles. In 1988, he worked as a consultant at the DGAP Research Institute under the direction of the then Director Prof Dr Karl Kaiser. Dr Thomas Enders then joined the planning staff of the Federal Minister of Defence, Gerhard Stoltenberg. He began his career in the aerospace industry in 1991, initially holding various positions at MBB and DASA (DaimlerBenz Aerospace) until 2000. From 2005, he was initially Co-Chief Executive Officer at EADS, Europe's leading aerospace group. From 2007-2012, he was CEO of EADS subsidiary Airbus before becoming Group CEO of EADS in 2012. The Group has been operating as Airbus SE since 2014.
