Counter-Terrorism and Prevention of violent Extremism
As part of the project “Counter-Terrorism and Prevention of Violent Extremism,” DGAP analyzes trends and developments in the field of prevention within the framework of Germany’s National Programme to Prevent Islamist Extremism (NPP) and has established the International Forum for Expert Exchange on Countering Islamist Extremism (InFoEx), a joint project with the Migration, Integration, and Asylum Research Centre of the Federal Office for Migration and Refugees (BAMF). In several workshops over the course of 2019–2020, InFoEx is discussing and collecting challenges and good practices from practitioners working in tertiary prevention in Germany and abroad, as well as insights from academics conducting research in this field. It is the project’s objective to identify and generate findings on processes of (de)radicalization, with a focus on their practical applicability for deradicalization efforts. The workshop’s results are published in Issue Papers in English and German.
