What will Egypt and Turkey look like in ten years? A capacity-building workshop held at the DGAP in Berlin focused on scenario planning and strategic policy analysis

Nach fast zehn Jahren Sanktionen gegen Iran haben die USA, EU und UN die Beendigung der Sanktionspolitik gegen das Land eingeleitet. Nach dem Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action, „Wiener Vereinbarung“, vom 14. Juli 2015 und seit dem darin vereinbarten Implementation Day am 16. Januar 2016 werden die nuklearbezogenen Wirtschafts- und Finanzsanktionen gegen Iran schrittweise aufgehoben.

An intensive two-day conference at the DGAP in Berlin sought to contribute toward an understanding of the region’s multiple crises, with panels on: Iran; the rise of ISIS; Turkey, Egypt, and Saudi Arabia; Immigration, Asylum, and Human Rights in Europe; the Israel-Palestine Conflict; and "Outside Powers."

A three-day policy workshop in Tunis – organized by the EU-Middle East Forum of the DGAP’s MENA program in cooperation with the Robert Bosch Stiftung, the German Federal Foreign Office, the Institute for Foreign Cultural Relations (ifa), and Le Labo’ Démocratique – brought together 19 young and mid-level experts to discuss the rise of terrorism in Tunisia since 2011.
