As Russia’s full-scale war against Ukraine enters its fourth year, Ukraine faces a pivotal moment – both on the front lines and in terms of Western support. President Trump’s decision to negotiate directly with Putin puts Ukraine in a precarious position. Europe, grappling with its own domestic crises, remains unable to fully compensate for any gap left by the United States. European countries will need to significantly increase spending on their own security as well as their continued support for Ukraine.
