In our second IPQ Debate we will further explore a key theme from our Spring 2024 issue.

Elections for the European Parliament are only weeks away. Later this year, a new European Commission will be formed that will take key decisions on a variety of issues effecting the future of the European Union. But, beyond Brussels, who is leading the EU at this critical juncture? While German Chancellor Olaf Scholz and his government started out with the ambition “to act only in the European interest,” they have disappointed many. Meanwhile, French President Emmanuel Macron recently underlined his ambition to act once more as the continent’s “progressive thinker,” but he is considered to lack clout. Our panelists will take a fresh look at what leadership in Europe means.
