Oana Popescu-Zamfir is the director and founder of GlobalFocus Center, an independent foreign policy and security think tank. She is a Europe’s Futures fellow at the Institute for Human Sciences in Vienna (IWM), an associate researcher with the European Council on Foreign Relations (ECFR), and a fellow of the Agora Strategy Institute. She was state secretary for EU affairs in the Romanian government and foreign policy adviser to the then-president of the Romanian Senate, Mircea Geoana, who is currently NATO deputy secretary general.
Popescu-Zamfir focuses on geopolitics in the EU/NATO neighborhood, transatlantic relations, global political risk and strategic analysis, shifting models of governance, democratization and democratic resilience, and hybrid threats (especially influence operations).
She was a Fulbright scholar at Yale University and completed executive studies at Harvard University and the University of St. Andrews.
