Every Thursday morning, DGAP’s Research Institute brings together experts and high-level guests to discuss the latest developments in foreign affairs. This week, we will look at Germany’s migration diplomacy and the country’s new agreements with Uzbekistan and Kenya. The goal of these bilateral agreements is to reduce irregular migration and facilitate labor mobility. We will assess the feasibility of these objectives and the opportunities and challenges they present for Germany and its partner countries. We will also discuss the potential of these deals to jointly manage migration and help regularize it, and how they might not only reshape Germany’s relationships with Uzbekistan and Kenya but also impact Germany’s global standing.
