Every Thursday morning at 8:30, DGAP’s Research Institute brings together experts and high-level guests to discuss the latest developments in geopolitics. This week, we will assess the political and economic stability of Russia after the apparent assassination of Yevgeny Prigozhin, the founder of the Wagner private military company who led an aborted 24-hour putsch against President Vladimir Putin in June. We will look at the reaction of Russia’s elites and shed light on the state of the economy after the recent dramatic fall of the ruble. We will also address the effectiveness of Western sanctions against Russia and how to improve them.
