Short Bio

Oscar Shao was a research fellow in DGAP’s Center for Geopolitics, Geoeconomics, and Technology from November 2023 to July 2024. He worked on issues relating to Chinese green industrial policy and Sino-EU relations in technology and climate.

Previously, Shao interned at the Swedish Institute of International Affairs where he focused Sweden-China relations around the topics of paradiplomacy and Chinese soft power. He has also written for the Centrum Balticum Foundation on issues related to China.

Shao holds a dual-master’s degree in international administration and global governance from the University of Gothenburg, Sweden, and international public policy from Fudan University, China. He has a bachelor’s degree in global studies from the University of Gothenburg.
