This episode, we examine the new US National Security Strategy that was published last week. The document reiterates and enshrines the rhetoric first used by Vice President JD Vance at the 2025 Munich Security Conference. It blames Europe for insufficient military spending and criticizes unrealistic expectations among European leaders for Russia’s war on Ukraine. It also states that Europe faces “civilizational erasure” and proposes that the United States interfere in European politics to “correct [their] current trajectory.” Our panel assesses the views formalized in the strategy and their implications for the transatlantic relationship.
