Every Thursday morning at 8:30, DGAP’s Research Institute brings together high-level guests to discuss the latest developments in geopolitics. This week, we will focus on the G20 summit in Bali, which was supposed to provide the background for a showdown between Russian President Vladimir Putin and those who oppose his war of aggression against Ukraine. Russia, however, will now be solely represented by Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov. Furthermore, we will discuss global macroeconomic challenges, the record of Indonesia’s G20 presidency, and how pronounced the “north-south divide” really is, especially in the context of Russia’s war. We will also assess the visits of German Chancellor Olaf Scholz and Minister for Economic Affairs and Climate Action Robert Habeck to Vietnam and Singapore.
