The project “External Dimensions of Migration Policy” conducts applied research to develop pragmatic and concrete recommendations for policymakers and experts within the relevant units of Germany’s government. It aims to build bridges between disparate opinions and policies, create a space of open exchange, and function as a non-partisan and independent intermediary toward the public.
The analysis done in this project centers on the coherence and harmonization of European migration policies and on the trade-offs between different policy options. Its research includes the experiences of countries within and beyond Europe.
The project is implemented by DGAP’s Migration Program and supported by the Research Center for Migration, Integration and Asylum of Germany’s Federal Office for Migration and Refugees (BAMF).
