Why Germany Needs to ­Cooperate More Closely with Partners in the Region

China’s increasingly aggressive stance in the South China Sea and the Taiwan Strait, the consequences of a potential conflict in the region, and concerns about a possible lack of (military) US support are challenges that equally affect Germany and its allies in the Indo-Pacific. Many countries in the region provide significant support to Ukraine and thus to European security. Against this backdrop, Germany should intensify its security and defense policy cooperation with countries in the Indo-Pacific.
