The workshop, part of the MENA program’s project promoting the work of think tanks in the Middle East and North Africa, addressed a series of issues related to Jordan’s socio-economic and external challenges. 14 mid-level experts who work in the field of policy analysis and advice in think tanks, academic research institutions, and comparable organizations in Jordan and Europe took part in the four-day program and developed policy recommendations. Throughout the first two days, different sub-aspects of the workshop topic – such as unemployment, gender issues, and the impact of the Israel-Palestine conflict – were analyzed and debated with external guests. On the third and fourth day, the participants received training in policy paper writing and worked on their own texts.

The project aims to strengthen the scientific and technical capacities of civil society actors in the MENA region and in the EU who are engaged in research, policy analysis, and advice. The event was realized in close cooperation with the West Asia-North Africa Institute (WANA) and with funding from the German Federal Foreign Office, and the Institute for International Cultural Relations (ifa).
