The G7 Summit in Évian-les-Bains: Rebalancing the Global Economy

We turn to the upcoming G7 summit that takes place in Évian-les-Bains, France, from June 15 to 17. At a time when transatlantic relations are under unprecedented strain and G7 unity is questionable, French President Emmanuel Macron has announced the reduction of global macroeconomic imbalances as a priority of this year’s meeting. The heads of state and government of the G7 members will be joined by their counterparts from India, Brazil, Kenya, and South Korea – bringing together the perspectives of emerging and developed economies on key global challenges. We will discuss what it could take to make this G7 summit a success and consider the implications of the G7 presidency of the United States in 2027.
