Auftaktveranstaltung der Reihe „Die außenpolitische Sprecher der Bundestagsfraktionen“ mit Jan van Aken, MdB, Die Linke.

On April 28, 2017, the DGAP’s Robert Bosch Center held a closed-door brainstorming session to address the current situation in Hungary and what it means for the European Union. Participants gave particular attention to the series of controversial laws on higher education and NGOs passed in early April as well as the government-run campaign called “Let’s stop Brussels!” which involved sending a questionnaire that contained false and hostile claims about the EU to millions of Hungarian citizens.

Vergangene Woche endeten die ersten hundert Tage der Amtszeit von Präsident Donald Trump. Die DGAP nahm dies am 27. April zum Anlass, über Brüche und mögliche Konstanten der US-Außenpolitik seit Trumps Amtsübernahme zu reden. Es diskutierten Dr. Sandra Busch-Janser, Vorsitzende von polisphere e.V., Omid Nouripour, außenpolitischer Sprecher der Fraktion Bündnis 90/Die Grünen, und Dr. Henning Riecke, Leiter des Programms USA/Transatlantische Beziehungen der DGAP.

This year’s TRAIN Programme launched with a seminar in Belgrade, April 23–27. The year's main focus is on corruption and informal practices. Twelve young scientists from Albania, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Macedonia, Montenegro, Kosovo, and Serbia met for the first time to discuss their research projects and to learn about effective policy advocacy.

The DGAP’s Discussion Group on Poland convened on April 5, 2017 to examine the pressing topics of Poland’s policy toward the EU, various views on “multi-speed Europe,” and Poland’s bilateral relations with Germany. The meeting took place under the Chatham House Rule.
