At this event, we will discuss the book ‘Our Enemies Will Vanish: The Russian Invasion and Ukraine's War of Independence’ by Pulitzer Prize finalist Yaroslav Trofimov, which takes an eyewitness account of Russia's war on Ukraine and the heroism of the Ukrainian people in their resistance. Since Russia has started its full-scale invasion of Ukraine in February 2022, Trofimov has spent months at the heart of the war, very often on its front lines. The conversation will discuss missed opportunities by the West prior to and during the war as well as the West’s role in shaping its future course, while exploring implications for German and European foreign policy as well as stakes for the wider democratic order.
