Short Bio
Sina Heckenberger has been a policy fellow and project manager in DGAP’s Europe Center since June 2026. As part of the project The Macroeconomic and Security Dimensions of Europe’s Clean Industrial Transition, she is developing an integrated policy framework for the EU’s industrial transformation based on input from key stakeholders who are positioned to shape a more coherent approach.
Previously, Heckenberger worked on sustainable supply chains and sustainable finance at the German Federal Ministry for the Environment where she contributed to the negotiations on the EU Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence Directive (CSDDD) and the Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD). She has also gained a wide range of professional experience in development cooperation, including at the German Representation of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP).
Heckenberger earned a master’s degree in public policy at Berlin's Hertie School in 2025. Her studies there focused on the intersection of environmental and economic policy with a particular emphasis on the econometric analysis of fiscal and industrial policy instruments for the green transition, as well as the circular economy. She also has a bachelor’s degree in “International Relations & Organisations” from Leiden University in the Netherlands.
