Sarah Rosengaertner is the deputy managing director of the Global Centre for Climate Mobility (GCCM). In this capacity, she oversees the Centre’s regional climate mobility initiatives in Africa and in Latin America and the Caribbean and co-directs the Global Climate Mobility Knowledge Hub with the Columbia Climate School. 

In 2023, Rosengaertner was a fellow at the Zolberg Institute on Migration and Mobility at the New School and an adjunct lecturer at Columbia University’s School for International and Public Affairs. She is a seasoned convenor, policy advisor, strategist, and project lead focused on the governance of migration in the context of global sustainable development and climate action ambitions. She previously held roles with the Mayors Migration Council, Open Society Foundations, The Elders, Columbia University’s Global Policy Initiative, the German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ), UNICEF, UNDP, and the Special Representative of the UN Secretary General on Migration, the late Sir Peter Sutherland. 

Rosengaertner started her career at the United Nations Institute for Training and Research, where she developed and delivered training courses for New York based diplomats on key issues on the UN agenda. She holds degrees in political science from the Freie Universität Berlin and Sciences Po Paris.
