Short Bio

Niklas Hintermayer has been an associate fellow in the Center for Geopolitics, Geoeconomics, and Technology since March 2025. Before that, he spent a year working as a research manager in DGAP’s Research Institute. He was previously based in Vienna where he worked as a journalist, most recently for the German-language edition of Forbes, and as a policy specialist in the city’s government.

Hintermayer studied law at the University of Vienna, European Union studies at Leiden University, and European and Eurasian studies at the John Hopkins University School of Advanced International Studies Europe. During his studies, he completed internships and contributed to the publications of the Hague Centre for Strategic Studies (HCSS) and the International Institute for Strategic Studies (IISS).
