Verena Wingerter has been a Young DGAP Fellow from October 2022 to March 2023 . Her thematic focus has been "Complex challenges to domestic and foreign policy: the nexus between internal and external security". Since August 2020, she has been working as a Threat Intelligence Researcher at the German Cyber Security Organisation (DCSO). Previously, she was a staff member at the EU-LISTCO project at the Freie Universität Berlin and the Eastern and Southeastern Europe Office of the Friedrich Naumann Foundation.

Verena Wingerter has a Master's Degree in International Security from the Hertie School and completed her Bachelor's degree at the Albert-Ludwigs-Universität Freiburg. She also studied at George Washington University (USA) and MGIMO (Russia). She is an alumna of the Friedrich Naumann Foundation, the DAAD and the International Security Policy Scholarship of the Hertie School.
