Policy Project: From Bibi to Bennett: Polarization of Israeli society and its influence on foreign policy

Lidia Averbukh has been a research associate at the German Institute for International and Security Affairs (SWP) since 2016. As part of a research project focused on Israel in the region, she researches and publishes on Israeli domestic politics, social dynamics, and the legal system.

Since 2021 she holds a PhD from the Bundeswehr University of Munich. In her dissertation she analysed group rights in the Israeli legal system and how they are embedded in the state's self-image as "Jewish and democratic."

Lidia Averbukh studied political science. Her research took her to Israel, Russia and the USA. She speaks German, English, Russian and Hebrew.
