Laura Strömpel has been head of membership at DGAP since November 2023. In this role, she is responsible for the largest German-speaking member network on foreign policy. She also manages the volunteer work of DGAP’s regional forums and Young DGAP, its program for students and young professionals. Further, she leads programs such as the Young DGAP Mentoring and Fellowship Program.
Previously, Strömpel was responsible for community management at DGAP and Young DGAP.
Before joining DGAP, Strömpel worked for the Robert Bosch Stiftung in Berlin from 2014 to 2021, most recently in its Policy Engagement and Partnerships department. There, she was in charge of a cross-party, multi-year program for young members of the Bundestag, which – together with international cooperation partners – teaches methods for innovative policymaking and good governance through seminars, workshops, and international study trips. Before that, she worked at the Robert Bosch Academy for four years.
Strömpel earned a bachelor’s degree in cultural studies and a master’s degree in European Studies at the European University Viadrina in Frankfurt (Oder) and at University College London (UCL).
