Marie-Louise Chagnaud joined DGAP in February 2019 as an Associate Research Fellow of the Security, Defense, and Armaments Program. In her research, she focuses on the European defense and armaments cooperation as well as the Franco-German defense cooperation.
She has more than 15 years of experience in political consultancy, public affairs, as well as European public advocacy. From 2012 to 2016, she worked as a research assistant at the International Security Division of the German Institute for International and Security Affairs (SWP) in Berlin. Since 2013, she worked in the SWP’s research projects “Permanent Monitoring and Analysis of military capabilities and defence sector trends” and “European Defense Monitoring”, which are both funded by the European Defence Agency (EDA).
She studied political science, public law and history at the Free University of Berlin and Rheinische Friedrich-Wilhelms-University in Bonn.
