Julian Pänke is an associate fellow at the DGAP’s Center for Central and Eastern Europe of the Robert Bosch Stiftung. Since September 2010 he has taught European Studies as a long-term lecturer of the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) at the Université Saint-Joseph in Beirut.
From August 2005 to August 2008, he worked as program officer in the Center for Central and Eastern Europe and supervised the Doctoral Program of the Robert Bosch Stiftung. Before he joined the DGAP he worked at Tyumen State University (Russia), where he taught international relations. Prior to that, he was a Europe Fellow and assistant lecturer at the European University Viadrina in Frankfurt (Oder) and an associate of the Frankfurt Institute of Transformation Studies.
He studied political science and history at the Free University, Berlin and at Humboldt University, Berlin. His Ph.D. thesis examined "Eastern Central Europe between Westernization and Nationalization" (2007).
