Appendix: US-German Exchange Programs

Overview of Notable Programs as of November 2014

An appendix to the paper "Exchange Programs and Transatlantic Relations: Where They Stand and Why They’re Essential," this list compiled by Christina Tsafoulias details many current programs geared specifically toward US-German exchange.

The US continues to be the top study destination outside Europe for Germans on exchange programs, with approximately 9,000 Germans coming to the US to study each year. The number of Americans studying in Germany has risen substantially in the past decade (from about 5,100 in 2000–01 to 9,400 in 2011–12), but it still represents a relatively small portion of all Americans studying abroad.  Christina Tsafoulias compiled an overview of programs that take German and American students across the Atlantic as an appendix to her paper on why transatlantic exchange programs still matter.
