Polish Foreign Policy Toward its Eastern Neighbors

Is a Close Cooperation with Germany Possible?

Polish eastern policy aims to integrate its neighbor states with Europe in order to ensure Poland’s independence from Russia. In the process, relations with Russia have recently improved, which has allowed for greater leeway to help shape EU eastern policy. Without close cooperation with Germany, Polish initiatives will lack the necessary assertiveness. Even if Germany is strongly focused on Russia, it is possible to harmonize the approaches of both countries.
