Ms. Evelyne Coulombe, Chargée d’affaires a.i., Embassy of Canada to Germany – in collaboration with the German Council on Foreign Relations (DGAP) – cordially invites you to:
Strengthening Female Networks and Their Influence in Foreign Policy Discussion and Networking Reception
Networks are crucial for shaping foreign policy and they often wield significant power. The historical dominance of men in such networks – especially those known as “old boys’ clubs” – is detrimental in two ways. It not only hinders the career prospects of women by denying them access to the privileges conferred by strong networks, but it also limits the diversity of perspectives that inform decision-making. Fortunately, a noticeable shift is underway: female networks are increasingly asserting their influence in foreign policy discussions. These networks foster dialogue, mentorship, information-sharing, and mutual support, thereby dismantling traditional barriers. In an era of complex geopolitical landscapes, these networks can and will play a vital role.

This event is part of the “Women@DGAP” series, which was created by and for female members and employees of DGAP. Through these events, we aim to introduce women to each other, create space for new initiatives, and build a network of women active in foreign and security policy within DGAP and beyond. As places are limited, the first-come-first-served policy applies.
