With Canada and Germany working alongside each other in the Baltic states, and soon together in Mali, and in light of multiple global tensions, Germany’s and Europe’s ties with Canada have become increasingly significant. Canada’s rising military spending comes as it takes on a leading role in multilateral institutions, including as the G7 Presidency this year. In speaking about Canada’s new Defence Policy of Strong, Secure and Engaged — Canadian Minister of National Defence Sajjan stated that Canada’s engagement in the world requires us to be a strong player in our multilateral alliances as well as being strong at home and secure in North America.
At our event we hope to discuss the ramifications of these developments for the defence partnership with Germany and Europe.
The event will be held in English.
