In the aftermath of the US presidential election, during Germany's EU Council Presidency, and a few months ahead of the German elections, France’s president Emanuel Macron clarified his foreign policy outlook and his views on European integration and sovereignty.

His interview with the platform Le Grand Continent which was released simultaneously in five European languages stirred a vivid debate.
