Think Tank Lab Lunch Talk:
An Inside Job – Policy Advice and Research Within a Governmental Agency
Wednesday, February 12, 2025, 12:00–1:00 p.m. (CET)
Via Zoom
How exactly does policy advice work in a governmental agency? How do new projects get onto the agenda and who decides on research priorities? What formats are used to advise and inform governing institutions? We will answer these questions based on the example of the German Environment Agency (Umweltbundesamt (UBA)), which advises the German government, implements federal environmental legislation, and informs the public about environmental protection. These pillars of work are based on the Agency’s own independent research and externally commissioned projects that are used to support government and other decision-makers.
We are very pleased to welcome Dr. Carsten Neßhöver from the Presidential Offices of the German Environment Agency, who is Coordinator of the International Academy Transformation for Environment and Sustainability (TES Academy), to this Think Tank Lab Lunch Talk. Together, we will discuss how to identify the right windows of opportunity for new impulses and topics, the parallels there are to the work of think tanks, and in which areas we can join forces.
Speaker:
Dr. Carsten Neßhöver, Presidential Offices, German Environment Agency (UBA)
