“Strategic Autonomy” is highly discussed within the European Union and especially among its security and defense experts. Yet, there are still questions that remain unanswered. France and Germany are expected to play a crucial role in the advancement of European security in the future. Therefore, we want to examine France’s proposals in terms of strategic autonomy as well as the institutional, operational, and industrial implications of such an effort. Moreover, we want to shed light on the French expectations toward its closest partner – Germany – in this regard. A few days after the Franco-German Defense and Security Council taking place on February 5, DGAP offers you the opportunity to engage in a discussion on these topics with Florence Parly, the French Minister of the Armed Forces.

Speaker: France’s Minister of the Armed Forces Florence Parly for a discussion with Dr. Christian Mölling, Research Director of DGAP.

Welcome and Chair:

Dr. Daniela Schwarzer, Director of DGAP
