Every Thursday morning, DGAP’s Research Institute brings together experts and high-level guests to discuss the latest developments in foreign affairs. This week, we will assess the situation in the Middle East after Saturday’s first direct attack on Israel by Iran. While most of the drones and rockets were intercepted, there is widespread concern about the implications for the ongoing conflict. The UN Security Council held an emergency session, and members of the G7 condemned Iran and declared their commitment to stabilizing the region. Together with our experts, we will discuss the motives and dynamics at play in Israel and Iran, as well as potential solutions for preventing further escalation.
