In April 2020, Anna-Lena Kirch joined DGAP as a research fellow in the Alfred von Oppenheim Center for European Policy Studies and coordinator of the project “Ideenwerkstatt Deutsche Außenpolitik.” Her research interests include EU governance, processes of EU coalition-building and differentiated integration, German and EU foreign and security policy, Benelux cooperation, and Central-Eastern Europe. Previously, she worked at the Hertie School’s Centre for International Security, the Europe Program of the German Marshall Fund of the United States, the German Institute for International and Security Affairs (SWP), and the European Parliament.

Kirch is currently completing her PhD on sub-regional cooperation formats in the EU at Justus-Liebig-University in Gießen. She studied political science and communication at Johannes Gutenberg-University in Mainz.
