Dr. Benno Schwarz co-founded DGAP Regionalforum München and has served as the voluntary Regional Director of the DGAP Forum Munich since 2006. In October 2024, he was co-opted onto the Executive Board of the German Council on Foreign Relations (DGAP).
Dr. Schwarz is Partner-in-Charge of the Munich office of the international law firm Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher and serves as Global Co-Chair of the firm’s Anti-Corruption & FCPA Practice Group. His work focuses on advising and defending companies in multi-jurisdictional regulatory and supervisory proceedings, as well as related investigations.
He studied law at the universities of Bonn, Munich, and Regensburg, where he also earned his doctorate in law (Dr. jur.) in 1992. He has been practicing law for over 30 years. His professional career has taken him to Moscow, Frankfurt, and Berlin before settling in Munich. Dr. Schwarz regularly publishes and speaks on topics related to international business and trade law, with a particular focus on the United States and Russia.
