Dr. Benno Schwarz co-founded DGAP Regionalforum München and has been its honorary regional director since 2006. In October 2024, he was co-opted onto the DGAP Board.
Schwarz is partner-in-charge of the Munich office of the international law firm Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher and global co-head of its Anti-Corruption & FCPA practice group. His practice focuses on advising and defending companies in multi-jurisdictional regulatory and supervisory proceedings and related investigations.
Schwarz has worked as a lawyer for over 30 years. His professional career took him to Munich after several years in Moscow, Frankfurt, and Berlin. He regularly publishes and speaks on multi-jurisdictional topics in the field of commercial law and foreign trade law with a focus on the United States and Russia.
He studied law at the universities of Bonn, Munich, and Regensburg, where he also received his doctorate in 1992. He speaks German, English, and French and is a state-certified translator (IHK) for Russian.
