Thinking beyond Vilnius
Poland and Germany must advance the EU’s Eastern policy
The upcoming EU summit in Vilnius could bring a decisive turn to the European Union’s relations with its Eastern neighbors. If the new agreements with Georgia and Moldavia are initialed, and in the event that an association agreement with Ukraine is in fact signed, milestones would be passed in terms of these countries’ rapprochement with the EU, More importantly, they would provide important impetus for developing the rule of law, democracy, and the structures of the market economy.
