In March 2020, NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg appointed a group of experts to support his work on a forward-looking “reflection process” to further strengthen the political dimension of the alliance. Co-chaired by Former German Defense Minister Thomas de Maizière and Former US Assistant Secretary of State Wess Mitchell, this independent group presented its report “NATO 2030: United for a New Era” on November 25. The analysis and recommendations it contains are intended to inform Allies‘ deliberations in the run-up to the 2021 NATO Leaders Meeting.
