DGAP’s Research Institute regularly brings together experts and high-level guests to discuss the latest developments in foreign affairs. On January 8, we will look at US foreign policy in light of the capture of Nicolàs Maduro. Amid widespread criticism about the legality of the move, there are serious concerns about the future of Venezuela and the implications of President Trump’s foreign policy aspirations – not only for the Western Hemisphere but also for the world order. Meanwhile, European leaders are divided over an appropriate response.
