Every Thursday morning at 8:30, DGAP’s Research Institute brings together experts and high-level guests to discuss the latest developments in geopolitics. This week, we will focus on the state visit of Emmanuel Macron to Germany from July 2 to 4 – the first such visit of a French president in 23 years. Although the “Franco-German engine” is still considered crucial for advancing the EU, it has been stuttering since the government of Chancellor Olaf Scholz took office. We will look at the long list of topics on which Paris and Berlin differ and assess how the relationship can be made to work better again.
